Okay, I'm going to share an "out of the mouth of babes" story with you all. Today, Delaney and I are at Wal-mart checking out. A really nice black woman was checking us out. Delaney liked her because she let Delaney help her twirl the station with all the plastic bags on them. Suddenly Delaney looks at me and says, "Mommy, that lady is brown." Okay....I'm actually a little embarrassed and NOT because of what Delaney said but because I'm so aware of how some people are sensitive to comments like this. I also didn't want this nice woman to think we were racist or anything of the sort. We're NOT by any means. I'm not sure what I really mumbled to her in my quietest voice ever but Delaney's response to me was unbelieveably sweet. She said, "Mommy, that lady is brown, we're white, Thistle Whistle is blue, Spike the dragon is purple, & Pinkie Pie is pink." By the way, the last 3 characters in that statement are from My Little Pony. I explained to her that yes, we're all different colors and isn't that nice! She smiled and agreed. And off we went.....I guess I need to be more prepared for whatever is going to come out of her mouth!

Today we went to the Apple Pickin' Jubilee at Hillcrest Orchards in Ellijay. Our trip served a dual purpose, Doug LOVES apples & the girls love to pick fruits/vegetables. It was definitely a success! In addition to picking apples, there was much to do! They had a track set up with John Deere tricycles for Delaney's age group and that was a hit! They also had a playground, tractor ride, petting zoo, pig races (so cute), pony rides, etc. Of course, my favorite past time was the homemade ice cream...YUMMY! The food was delicious and we made a pitt stop in the store for some homemade goodies to bring home. I look forward to going again next year!

Okay, some of us in this house have a little sweet tooth when it comes to cookie dough....Delaney! As a special treat on rainy days or just to mix up our day a little bit, I let the girls help me make homemade cookies. Chocolate chip of course! Delaney is really good about pouring in all of the ingredients; she's a great helper! Hadley is too little for all that but we do pull up her booster chair and give her measuring cups & kitchen utensils so she doesn't feel left out. After we mix up all the ingredients, it's cookie dough time! Hadley is not so sure about the dough but does LOVE the chocolate chips! Delaney and I devour the dough and I have to make us stop so we don't collapse into sugar comas :)

Today, we celebrated Carter's 6th birthday at Chuck E. Cheese. For those of you reading this that aren't aware, Carter is my nephew (Chris' son). It makes me realize how fast children really do grow to think that he is now 6. I still remember him as a little baby :) I think everyone had a great time! Delaney was so excited to see her Nana that she rarely left her side! Hadley was happy she got to do her own thing! She rode all the rides she could; she even played a few games. Even Doug ventured off to be a kid and play some games! I was just happy to visit with everyone. It was a nice day! Happy Birthday to Carter & Nana! Nana, we hope you also get to celebrate in a more grown-up place! LOL
