One More Month.....

One more month and off to school again we go! Yes, our summer has about a month left and Delaney will be back in preschool for the "3-year class." As much as I enjoy the down time of not having to rush about for school, I'm very much looking forward to the end of next month! 3-1/2 months is a long time to be out and I think even Delaney is looking forward to it at this point! Delaney is still our sassy spirited girl who is keeping us very much on our toes these days with the crazy, absurd things that come out of her mouth! She has an attitude and when she gets mad at us, she folds her arms over her chest and runs away to pout! It's exasperating to say the least! Sometimes it drives us crazy and other times I feel myself about to burst out laughing! Even though she's a handful, Delaney still has her very sweet, sensitive side that I always love. Never afraid to give kisses or stop playing to let you know she loves you and you're still her best friend. And of course....we still are OBSESSED with ponies!
As for our Hadley girl, she just turned 15 months old this week! Growing like a little weed! She's our zen, sweet girl that we want to squeeze the life out of all the time! And because she's been so zen and laidback, we've become aware lately that her "toddler" attitude is starting to kick in. She will NOT let you feed her much of anything, including her favorite food, yogurt. If I can smell that her diaper is "dirty," I always out loud ask Hadley if it is and the minute I finish my question, she is up and gone as fast as she can!! Recently, Hadley has started going "boneless" if you pick her up and interupt her doing something fun. I mean, I knew the day would come when she would start expressing herself more but I wasn't quite ready for it! The pictures above are of Hadley's newest friend, Bismol (Pepto Bismol is her full name). This is by far the most annoying toy we've ever owned! Of course, Hadley doesn't think so at all.....she's quite fond of her! And so is her sister....

The Sandbox

While we were vacationing in Hilton Head, we took the girls to a play called The Sandbox. It's a hands-0n children's museum (smaller version of the Atlanta Children's Museum). It's the cutest place! They have a two-story pirate ship complete with costumes, a rock wall, a construction site where the kids wear hard-hats & are able to turn the lights off/on and use tools, moon sand play area, arts/crafts section, train tables, the list is endless. I knew Delaney would love it because she's been one time before. Hadley LOVED it so much that she threw an absolute fit when we had to leave to eat lunch. Her favorite thing was the pirate ship because it had a small elevated area going on/off the ship. So she would go up and down, up and down. So if you're ever in Hilton Head and need a time out from the beach, this is the place to take your little ones!

Hilton Head Island 2008

Hey everyone! We are back from our much needed family vacation to Hilton Head Island, S.C. Doug and I started going to this beach every summer the year after we got married. Except for last summer (Hadley seemed too little for so much sun) we have gone faithfully every year. We LOVE Hilton Head for soo many reasons. My main reason that I love going is that it's such a nice town with lots of other families visiting. We had such a good time that Delaney informed me that she wants to go back to "her" beach house so we can go the beach, ride bikes and play tennis. I guess in her mind this is all we really did and that's all the really matters. Yes, I am always happy to come home after being gone for a week but I too find myself a little sad wishing we were still there. Hope you enjoy our pictures....we tried to pick our favorites! I will post a few more later with other things that we did!

Kennesaw Mountain

Today we met our friends, Luke & Canyon at Kennesaw Mountain for a picnic lunch. Although the lunch itself was a little stressful (Hadley did not want to eat in her stroller), all in all the kids had fun. Hadley was especially happy because she got to roam everywhere and eat dirt, sticks, and leaves. She's quite gross sometimes! Delaney and Canyon were cute wandering off together to explore. I think the kids really loved today because they had a LOT of freedom and no distractions.
