How do I love thee? Let me count the ways....

My blog today is dedicated 100% to my husband, Doug. Tomorrow we will be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary. We have actually been together for a total of 11 years. Yay! So here's how our weekend goes. My parents are getting ready to go to Iowa for a week or more so my mom called me and asked if she could come up this weekend and see the girls before they went away. I saw no reason she couldn't come. We are also getting ready to leave for the beach so I knew it would be a good 3 weeks or so before we would have the chance to see them again. So Friday night we had just finished dinner and I noticed Delaney had disappeared upstairs. After checking on her I found a suitcase opened and empty (except for all of Delaney's ponies) sitting on the bed in our room. So I ask Doug, "What's up with the suitcase? Are you trying to tell me something?" He then tells me that we're leaving in the morning so I need to pack an overnight bag. My mom then looks at me and says, "I didn't come to see you, I told you I was coming to see the girls!" I honestly must have looked shocked because Doug kept saying, "I'm serious!" So low and behold, Saturday morning we packed up the car and headed out. Our first stop was the outlet malls where we shopped for a few hours (yay for me). Then we headed to a place called Cloudland Canyon State Park in the northwest corner of Georgia. All of the above pictures were taken there. It was incredible for sure! Doug kept joking that he felt sick looking down because we were soo high up. We hiked down into the mountains a bit to see the waterfalls they had. Unfortunately, due to the drought, the waterfalls were not as breath taking as we had hoped but still pretty nonetheless. So after getting drenched in a storm that passed through, we packed up again and headed for Chattanooga for the night. We stayed in downtown Chattanooga. We had dinner and saw a movie. It was so nice! We got to sleep in, completely uninterrupted by the sound of Hadley needing her pacifier which was nice!!! This was our first little get-a-way ever without kids! That's pretty sad considering Delaney is 3-1/2. I owe many many thanks to my mom who took the time out of her own crazy busy life to come free us up for the weekend. We love you Nana!! We couldn't have done this without you. And of course, my wonderful husband, I wish you a Happy Anniversary. I love you more than you'll ever know. You are my one and only best friend. I hope we have many more wonderful years together.

Happy Father's Day!

This blog is dedicated entirely to the man in our lives, Doug a.k.a. Daddy. He is absolutely awesome! He is such a great father & husband. I couldn't do what I do without him. He is such a hands-on dad to the girls which thrills me! There are those fathers that basically provide for their families and leave the rest to the moms to take care of. Not Doug! Not only does he provide for us but he does everything from bathing the girls, to taking Delaney to her swim lessons, to sitting in the ER for 3 hours with Delaney waiting for her staples. The minute he walks in the door after work, Hadley stops what she's doing and makes her way to find him to give him one of her infamous smiles! We hope he knows how thankful we are for everything that he does for us! Happy Father's Day Daddy! We love you!!!

The next American Idol....

I wanted to share a clip of Delaney singing in the bathtub a few nights ago. She has been walking around singing the same two songs over and over. One is from a My Little Pony movie and one is from The Lion King. They're not perfect but music always sounds cute coming out of a 3-year old's mouth. Enjoy!!

Spirited Daring Girl = Trip to ER

As most of you know, my spunky girl Delaney is quite the adventurous little tomboy. She never hesitates to try anything physical and is quite athletic. Even though she is quite good at physical things, she is also a very clumsy girl. Not graceful in the least. So it comes to no surprise that Delaney spent 3 hours last night at the hospital due to a clumsy fall off the bed. She was playing on the bed in the playroom and lost her balance and smacked into the wall. Of course, I was not in the playroom when it happened. I was in my bedroom which is about 20 feet away. The only thing I heard was Delaney screaming & when I ran to see what happened, I first happened upon Hadley who had a small puddle of blood on her forehead. I was panicked but then realized she was fine. Delaney ran up to me and all I could see on her was blood running down her back & her hair had blood in it. I managed to pull apart her hair and found a nasty little one-inch laceration that I knew in my heart would need stitches. Luckily, Doug came home 10 minutes after all this happened & scooped Delaney up & took her to the hospital. Later on I get a call from Doug telling me that Delaney is getting 2 staples in her head with NO numbing medication. UHHH! I've never had staples before but the thought of this makes me feel panicky & light-headed. So my poor little girl ended up with 3 staples in her scalp and NO numbing medication. Of course she was NOT a happy camper with the ER staff but God bless them for taking care of her. Now I get to look forward to Delaney having them removed in a week....

Hadley's Walking!!! sweet Hadley is walking! She started taking her first steps about 3 weeks ago and then about a week or so ago she started walking all the time. She looks so cute; sometimes she looks like a drunken sailor staggering around here! I think she's so happy that she finally figured it out. Now she's a big girl just like her sissy! Enjoy the footage shot in the back yard! Don't mind the fact that she tried to eat a mushroom (that child will eat just about anything). I'm definitely no videographer but I tried!

Delaney & Elle

Yesterday, we had a playdate at our house with our friends, Elle & Matthew. It has been SO hot & humid this last week so we've had to break out the sprinklers, pools & the slip n slide. Here are some pictures of Delaney & Elle breaking in the new slip n slide we bought at the end of last summer (think clearance). They were so cute and had such a nice time! I have to say, I was very tempted to throw my suit on and join in because it was so hot I felt like I was melting. Of course we have no trees in our yard which means not much shade. I'm going to have to get creative with things we can do outside this summer that will also keep us cool. I'm open to suggestions if you have any!!
