I am a sucker for this girl.....

Let's just say, this day in particular I was CRAZY. Okay, little Hadley gets the shaft so frequently because she's the second child and we all know how that goes. So this day, I was feeding her dinner and trying to distract her with something so she wouldn't run her gross, slimy fingers through her hair. So I gave her a sucker (with the wrapper on) so she could check it out while I snuck off to find a baby wipe. When I came back, she was licking the wrapper which made me feel kinda guilty so I took off the wrapper (yes I did) and gave it to my sweet girl. Whoa, what a mess! This child had it from her hair to her toenails. Hadley was one sticky ball of sunshine. Happy but messy! Oh well...I got the camera out and just watched this unfold knowing she would get one heck of a bath!!! Gotta love my Hadley Wadley....

We LOVE to dress up....

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but in this house we LOVE dress up! Lately, Delaney has been creating her own outfits. In the above pictures, she proudly came up with this creation all on her own with a horse to accessorize. Yay Delaney! As for little Hadley, I love these pictures of her because she actually let me put on clip-on earrings. I expected her to rip them off but she wore them. Hadley cracks me up because she constantly goes around the house looking for all of the beaded necklaces and puts them on all by herself. Sometimes they get hung up in her hair bows but she doesn't seem to mind at all. This is one of the many reasons why I love having girls!

Fun in the Sprinkler....

Yesterday we had our first playdate of summer break! It's so nice to not have to rush about in the morning! We had Canyon & Luke over to play. Since it was pretty warm yesterday with full sunshine in our backyard, we broke out Hadley's new Elmo sprinkler. Boy was that a hit her little world! She really liked it despite the fact that the water was kinda chilly. Of course the big kids liked it as well. Luke decided he wasn't the biggest fan of it so he observed from the sidelines. All in all, it was such a nice day!

Our New Playset

A few weekends ago, Doug's parents bought the girls a new wooden playset for the backyard. After some blood, sweat & tears, Doug & Steve assembled the beast itself (ha, ha). For those of you who have never constructed one of these things, you are LUCKY! I just have to say, the manufacturer of these little playsets could really save everyone a lot of time & stress by just labeling the wooden pieces instead of making you measure each individual piece to see if you have the right one.'s together and the girls LOVE it. It's been very nice for me personally because now while dinner is in the oven, we can go right into the backyard and play for 30-40 minutes instead of trying to beat the clock and race down to the park here in our subdivision. I think the favorite thing is by far the swings. Of course we have to fight on a daily basis over the blue baby swing because while it used to be Delaney's, it's now Hadley's. While Hadley loves it, so does her big sister! Thank you Mee-Maw & Poppie! We love our playset!

Delaney's End of Year Party

Today was Delaney's end of year party at her preschool. The theme was "Happy Birthday America." The kids were asked to bring in their choice of a push-toy, wagon, bike, stroller, etc. Then they decorated them with 4th of July streamers, flags, ribbons, and so on. After all the decorating was finished, the whole school had a parade. As you can see, Delaney chose to take in her blue stroller and push Polly in the parade. Hadley brought in her push-toy and nearly ran over every student & parent present today. She was a force to be reckoned with!! It was actually a lot of fun! All of the kids had a great time. Most of them were NOT interested in the decorating aspect of the party but very much enjoyed the parade. After the parade was finished we had lunch and headed home. It's hard to believe that another whole year has just FLOWN by! See ya next year Macland Preschool!!

Mother's Day at Stone Mountain Park

Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas who are reading this! Today, we spent Mother's Day at Stone Mountain Park. We really had a good time! Unfortunately, because we had a storm move through here last night, today was soo windy and the park closed the sky lift (Delaney was sad). We did not get to go to the top of the mountain (I was not pushing a stroller with lil Hadley all the way to the top). We did get to do a lot of fun things still! We rode the train around the mountain, the girls played in a place called "The Barn," which is an old barn turned into a play place for kids. Of course we had to stop and have some homemade ice cream!!! Yummy is all I can say (I'll let the pictures speak for themselves). We just hung out and enjoyed ourselves. We promised Delaney that we will go back & ride the sky lift! Will post pictures from the top one day soon!

My Mom a.k.a. Nana

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom or as Delaney calls her, "my Nana." We love her for so many reasons. I constantly lean on her for support, advice or just to vent my frustrations about the world. Not only is she a wonderful mother but she is the world's best Nana to my girls. They love her so much and the biggest complaint in this house about her is that she lives too far away (really only 2 hours but not living around the corner is what we consider far). Mom, we wish you a wonderful Mother's Day! We hope you spend it doing something relaxing like scrapbooking or shopping :) Delaney is coloring you a novel of pony pictures!

Playgroup Mamas

Michelle & Canyon
Meghan & Jonathan

Stephanie & Gracie

Today I'm dedicating this blog to the playgroup mamas in my life. Sorry Jennifer & Amy, I have no pictures of you to post but you are included in this group! These are the women in my life that I have become friends with since having my kids. Most of us met through Gymboree with our first babies and have remained friends ever since. These women are all an inspiration to me in some way. I lean on them for support constantly. Pre-Gymboree days were sometimes lonely because I was home alone all day with no one to really talk to. I'm sure I was driving Doug crazy but I just needed some kind of adult interaction. At the same time, I LOVED being home with Delaney and seeing her learn new things every day. I wouldn't miss it for the world! Then Gymboree entered my world and it was fantastic! I've made some of the greatest friends through this. 3 years later most of us are still around and still leaning on each other for support! Happy Mother's Day to you all! You are all a blessing in my life and I hope we remain friends for a long time to come!

Kate Gosselin

This week I'm dedicating all my blogs to Mother's Day. Each blog will be dedicated to a mama that I find inspirational. Today I will start with Kate Gosselin from my favorite show, Jon & Kate Plus 8. A co-worker of Doug's told us about this show this past fall and we started watching it when the writers went on strike. I was instantly hooked! I LOVE this show for all sorts of reasons. I cannot imagine how hard it would be to raise 8 children but I love watching Jon & Kate in their ordinary day-to-day routine. Mostly, when I watch Kate, I see a lot of myself in her. She makes me feel like we're (all mamas) all in this together and we can all do it! Raising kids is by far the most rewarding job I've ever had but let's face it, it's not always fun and games. There are really BAD days and those days make you want to run away screaming. When I find myself having one of these days, I think of Kate and know that she's doing it with MUCH MORE than myself. If she can handle 8 kids, I can definitely handle my 2. I love this show and I hope that it will stay on-air for a long time coming. Happy Mother's Day Kate!

Muffins with Mom

On Wednesday, Delaney's preschool had "Muffins with Mom." Basically, the moms get to come in and enjoy muffins & coffee while the kids present you with gifts they've made just for you. I have attached pictures of the gifts Delaney made for me. I LOVE the flower pot! You can't really see the detail in the picture but on the actual pot, Delaney used her finger & handprints to make flowers & trees. It's soo cute. After Muffins with Mom, the Music & Movement class put on a short skit for the mothers as well. Of course, Delaney was the only child that came in, saw me & decided she'd like to sit with me instead of participate. I tried to convince her otherwise but we all know Delaney, it wasn't happening. So we watched the other kids & it was cute! My hopes are that next year I will get to see my child perform with the others!
